The Petal Patisserie started small. What began as a backyard garden growing flowers for friends and neighbors has grown into a modest 1/8-acre flower farm serving communities throughout Tidewater Virginia.

Today, we grow a wide variety of specialty cut flowers right here in Newport News, with flowers making their way from our fields into the hands of local customers in all kinds of ways. You’ll find us at two local farmers markets (Fort Monroe Farmers Market and Buckroe Beach Farmers Market), supplying flowers to local funeral homes, creating bud vases for restaurants, growing flowers for Tidewater Virginia weddings, and providing locally grown blooms to other florists through our wholesale offerings.

We’re still a small farm, and that’s something we value. Growing on a small scale allows us to pay close attention to our flowers from seed to harvest and to grow varieties that you won’t always find through traditional flower suppliers. We love the process of choosing unusual and beautiful varieties, watching them grow, and then seeing those flowers become part of someone’s wedding, celebration, home, or everyday life.

 

Growing with the land in mind

We believe beautiful flowers don’t have to come at the expense of the environment. We limit our use of harmful agricultural chemicals and prioritize eco-friendly growing practices whenever we can. That means focusing on healthy soil, beneficial insects, thoughtful crop planning, and other methods that allow us to grow flowers responsibly while reducing our impact on the land.
